Make your own canvas goose

If you like hunting water fowl like geese, you probably know how expensive a commercially manufactured goose decoys can be. An animal decoy is an object that resembles the foul that you intend to hunt. The decoy is placed at a clear spot close to your position to attract the water foul. Due to the cost of the decoys, most people are unable to buy them. So, or those of you who can’t buy their decoys, here is a method to make your own canvas decoy!

All the materials required to make a canvas goose decoy are easily available at hardware and supply stores. Here is a list of things you will need:

1. Sheets of canvas

2. A block of Styrofoam

3. Cloth marker or permanent marker

4. Quick fix glue

5. Scissors

6. Sand paper

7. White, black and brown paint

8. A knife

9. Waterproofing spray

Once you have all the things you need, follow these steps to make your decoy goose:

1. Make a 12 inch by 12 inch block by cutting the Styrofoam

2. Draw the outline or shape of a goose on it. If you are poor at drawing, you can always use a stencil!

3. Cut along the outline using the knife.

4. Smooth off the edges using the sandpaper.

5. Use the Styrofoam model to draw an outline on the canvas leaving a margin of 4 inches on each side.

6. Cut the canvas along this outline now.

7. With the backside up, quickly apply glue onto the canvas

8. Now place the decoy on the glue, with the four in margins extending around it.

9. Stick the margins over the edges using glue. Press out any air pockets between the canvas and the decoy.

10. Now paint the decoy to as closely resembling a real goose as possible!

11. Finally, spray the decoy with waterproofing spray. You can use it as soon as it dries!

1. Keep it down! – The first and most important rule when handling a gun is to never, under any circumstances, point the gun at a person until and unless you intend to shoot! 3. Target only! – When at a shooting range or when doing target practice, make sure the background or the space behind the target is absolutely clear to avoid accidentally shooting someone.

4. Unload! – Make sure your gun is not loaded if you are not using it. This specially applies to home guns which can fall into the hands of children. Always check and recheck the gun to ensure it is unloaded and keep it out of the reach of children.

Avoid painful injuries in sports
